Hello Reader, TL;DR: new guest podcast episode, on Business As Activism, with Elijah Shannon Selby: The Entrepreneurial Mental Health Crisis. Listen here. Entrepreneurship gives freedom and opportunity to so many people. As women, moms, neurodivergents, people who can't do a traditional 9 - 5 job, creatives, and anyone who doesn't fit the cookie cutter mold, entrepreneurship offers us so much potential. AND--entrepreneurship affects our mental health in specific ways that "regular" jobs don't. And yet--we all fall prey to the glamorized stories of success, lying on the beach sipping cocktails while the money rolls in...and so we hide the stress, anxiety and depression and shame ourselves for having those feelings because we have to be leaders and experts and present a face of ease, confidence and success. We can really do a number on ourselves. But I'm passionate about mitigating the entrepreneurial mental health crisis. There's an incredible relief in simply admitting this shit is HARD! Talking about our mental health is a powerful way for us to do business differently--discussing mental health is absolutely a form of activism! We also talked about white and other privileges, and how for some folks, it's not OK to be not OK, and a lot of other nuances that are needed in discussions about mental health. I'm so excited for you to listen to this episode, and very grateful that Elijah Shannon Selby welcomed me as a guest on Business As Activism. My episode is The Entrepreneurial Mental Health Crisis. Listen here. Gratefully, |

In this episode, I talk about: The common ups and downs of being an entrepreneur (spoiler: business ownership is not always Instagram-worthy)...
Hello Reader, I was so excited to talk to Mariah Scrivens, host of the Make it Happen podcast, because: 1) She's actually local to me!! (I live in a rural area in southeastern Ontario so most of the biz folks I meet online are far from me) 2) I felt so validated!! It's rare that I feel validated! I'm usually the one doing the validating. You have to listen in because this two-part conversation is just so delicious. Part 1 (20 minutes) :...
Hello Reader, If you're a night owl or a sleepless entrepreneur, today's episode is for you. I'm talking about something that's kept me up nights: how to actually get some sleep when your brain refuses to power down. As business owners, our minds are our superpowers. But sometimes, that superpower goes into overdrive, leaving us staring at the ceiling at 2 AM, wondering, "Why can't I sleep even though I'm exhausted?!" In this episode, I'm sharing: My personal struggles with insomnia and what...
